Michael J. Mallen graduated Magna Cum Laude with Program Distinction from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with a B.A in Psychology. He moved on to the University of Minnesota, where he was accepted into the Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology Program. While attending the U of MN, he worked at a campus education counseling service and interned at a clinic for developmentally disabled adults.
Michael merged his interests of psychology and the Internet and, with the encouragement of Thomas Hummel, Ph.D., carried out a research simulation entitled, "The Effectiveness of Online Counseling." He received a M.A. in Educational Psychology and recently joined the Counseling Psychology Program at Iowa State University. Michael is currently working with Susan X Day, Ph.D. on numerous projects related to online therapy and online discourse and communication patterns.
Michael joined the TelehealthNews staff in Fall, 2000. He has received several awards and scholarships during his academic career and will be presenting at the 2001 American Psychological Association Conference.
Michael enjoys expanding his CD and DVD collections with the limited amount of finances that come with being a graduate student. He also suffers year in and year out as a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, waiting for the glorious day when his team will finally lift up the Cup once more...
