YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities includes over 350 community-based programs with a combined staff of over 2,000 serving over 20,000 individuals and their families daily. These programs are in New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico. In addition, the National Training Institute supports agencies throughout the United States.

Objectives:

• Conduct or help in conducting research in Yoga and Psychotherapy
• Edit or get edited books on Yoga and Psychotherapy
• Prepare and publish books/journals and other literature on Yoga and Psychotherapy
• Organize seminars/lectures and conduct short term workshops and provide facilities for training individuals or groups of individuals in Yoga and Psychotherapy in India and abroad
• Establish contacts and cooperate with the individuals and associations or organization working in the field of Yoga and Psychotherapy in different aspect
• Give adequate guidance to the individuals and groups in the Yogic and Psychotherapeutic way
• Conduct short term courses in Yoga and Psychotherapy of One months/Three months and above through distance education/correspondence

Key aims:

• To encourage the provision of comprehensive, accessible and effective child and adolescent mental health services
• To encourage public policy-makers to take account of the mental health needs of children, young people and their families
• To promote a greater public awareness of the mental health and emotional needs of children, young people and their families

Young Minds advises local commissioners and purchasers on needs assessment and the effective joint-commissioning of child and adolescent mental health services. In 1997, Young Minds launched a customised consultancy and training service. Much of Young Minds' work is devoted to making sure policy-makers at national and local level take account of the mental health needs of children,young people and their families.

Its national Parents Information Service for parents, carers and professionals takes calls from people worried about the emotional well-being of a child. Backed up by an exclusive database of services around the country, the front-line staff of Young Minds can put callers in touch with local helping agencies, as well as providing written information.

Youth Support work extensively with families including those with older parents - the family provides the ‘stage’ upon which emotional development takes place and sets the scene for future difficulties, personality problems, and patterns of low self worth, self harm and abuse. By working with families Youth Support hope to break cycles of dysfunctional patterns and enable children to grow into happy effective adults and future parents themselves.

Much of the work at the residential unit involves child protection issues - diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic/treatment.

Ypsilon is the Dutch fellowship of relatives suffering from schizophrenia or psychoses. It is an affiliation of 50 groups, covering a total of 5,000 members.
