WESTB through WIZ

WGPS is a local affiliate society of the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

The purpose of the WCPA is to further the development of psychology as a science and as a profession, to safeguard the interests of the pubic and of the profession, and to provide a basis for professional growth and association among psychologists in Westchester County.

• Assist states in the improvement of systems of care for consumers and their families
• Advance the preparation of a qualified workforce in the West

The program helps the states respond to changing environments by employing collaborative approaches of regional research, policy analysis, networking, technical assistance and information sharing.

The circle is devoted to the psychoanalytic investigation and exploration of human relationships, to psychoanalytic work, and especially to the communication and further development of psychoanalysis within self psychology. In the context of self psychology, the circle has undertaken to examine developmental psychology, the origins of aggression, the process of becoming conscious, and so on.

An official training institute, the Circle organizes regular seminars, symposia, and congresses.

Since its inception the William Alanson White Institute has concerned itself with the dynamic interplay between the environment and the self. In keeping with this tradition, the Institute's Center for the Study of Psychological Trauma offers clinical services, research and training in the treatment of psychological trauma.

The HIV Clinical Service of the William Alanson White Institute offers intensive individual, group and couples therapy to persons whose lives have been altered by HIV. Training is also provided to mental health professionals in courses, lectures, case conferences, and psychotherapy supervision. The HIV Clinical Service is staffed by faculty, graduates and candidates of the William Alanson White Institute.

Objectives:

• Provide excellent quality continuing medical education
• Further the understanding of all aspects of the science and treatment of the broad group of symptoms known as psychoses
• Create a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and research results across country boundaries
• Generate a dynamic and provocative single track programme including: plenary lectures; debates; workshops; and poster tracks
• Provide the interactive framework for communication between industry and academia
• Facilitate the ongoing education and communications between researchers, academics and clinicians through a not-for-profit conference—the Winter Workshop
• Particularly encourage the contribution and attendance of young scientists
