About The Westchester County Psychological Association [WCPA] is a professional organization of psychologists who live or work in Westchester County. It was founded in 1954 and currently has a membership of almost 500 psychologists, which is the third largest membership of any county association in New York State. The Association is affiliated with the New York State Psychological Association and through it with the American Psychological Association.

The purpose of the WCPA is to further the development of psychology as a science and as a profession, to safeguard the interests of the pubic and of the profession, and to provide a basis for professional growth and association among psychologists in Westchester County.

About The William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology [WAWI] is a psychoanalytic training institute co-founded in 1943 by Harry Stack Sullivan, Erich Fromm, Clara Thompson, Frieda Fromm-Reichmann, and Janet Rioch. The contributions of its founders, of Sigmund Freud, and of post-Freudian developments have been significant in the study of personality that has always found its home within the training and treatment philosphy of WAWI.

Since its inception the William Alanson White Institute has concerned itself with the dynamic interplay between the environment and the self. In keeping with this tradition, the Institute's Center for the Study of Psychological Trauma offers clinical services, research and training in the treatment of psychological trauma.

The HIV Clinical Service of the William Alanson White Institute offers intensive individual, group and couples therapy to persons whose lives have been altered by HIV. Training is also provided to mental health professionals in courses, lectures, case conferences, and psychotherapy supervision. The HIV Clinical Service is staffed by faculty, graduates and candidates of the William Alanson White Institute.

About The non-profit, independent, intenational Winter Workshop in Psychoses [WWP] (formerly the Winter Workshop in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorders) has been holding conferences biennially since 1982.

Objectives:

  • Provide excellent quality continuing medical education
  • Further the understanding of all aspects of the science and treatment of the broad group of symptoms known as psychoses
  • Create a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and research results across country boundaries
  • Generate a dynamic and provocative single track programme including: plenary lectures; debates; workshops; and poster tracks
