| About | The mission of the UIC Mental Health Services Research Program [MHSRP] is to conduct research, training and technical assistance that results in enhanced service delivery and increased knowledge about psychiatric disorders and services. The program promotes the involvement of consumers, families, and providers in all levels of research, training, and dissemination activities.
The MHSRP's projects addressing psychiatric disability and rehabilitation focus on such areas as vocational, residential, and educational rehabilitation services; crisis management and prevention of hospitalization; the needs of women and those from diverse cultural backgrounds; and systems integration. The MHSRP also emphasizes the needs and experiences of individuals living with HIV/AIDS, including those who also have mental illness. In addition, individual projects address treatment for homeless individuals with psychiatric disability, as well as the experiences of family members of those living with this disability. |
