| The National Technical Assistance Center for State Mental Health Planning [NTAC] provides on-site technical assistance to individual states and regions on all issues of importance to mental health planning, service delivery, and evaluation. NTAC also:
- Supports special mental health-related projects and events, including regional and national conferences
- Offers state mental health authorities, consumers, families, and state planning councils the resources of a comprehensive library of resource materials
- Communicates electronically with the mental health community through an NTAC Home Page on the WWW and a forum on the National Mental Health Knowledge Exchange Network
- Maintains a database of expert consultants
- Publishes a quarterly newsletter, networks

| The South African National Telemedicine Research Centre was established in 1999 to:
- Evaluate the operations and systems of national Telemedicine projects in order to ensure improved delivery of health care services
- Use a Telemedicine Clinical Research Testbed to test new Telemedicine Technologies for their clinical abilities and cost effectiveness
- Provide tools for implementing Telemedicine, such as training, teaching materials and local capacity professional development; as well as research into relevant protocols, standards and medico-legal aspects of Telemedicine
