NIPC works with state agencies, schools, businesses, trade associations, media, civic organizations, law enforcement, Poison Control Centers and interfaith groups throughout the country to educate and devise multifaceted awareness and prevention campaigns designed to educate youth and adults about the debilitating effects of these dangerous gateway drugs. NIPC also provides inservice training for educators.

The role of NICE is to provide patients, health professionals and the public with authoritative, robust and reliable guidance on current "best practice", both in individual health technologies (including medicines, medical devices, diagnostic techniques, and procedures) and in the clinical management of specific conditions.

NIDA supports more than 85 percent of the world's research on the health aspects of drug abuse and addiction. The Institute also carries out a large variety of programs to ensure the rapid dissemination of research information and its implementation in policy and practice.

NIMH is part of the National Institutes of Health [NIH], the principal biomedical and behavioral research agency of the United States Government. NIH, in turn, is a component of the US Department of Health and Human Services [DHHS].

• Develop behavior change and prevention strategies to reduce the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
• Develop and test interventions to reduce the neuropsychiatric morbidity associated with HIV infection
• Clarify the impact on HIV risk behaviors of using new biomedical technologies (e.g., rapid testing, vaccines, microbicides)
• Clarify the pathophysiology of HIV CNS infection and associated motor/cognitive disturbances
• Identify the role of couples, families, and communities in preventing and adapting to HIV/STDs
• Develop therapeutic agents to prevent or reverse the effects of HIV on the CNS
• Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of mental health services relevant to HIV infection and people living with HIV and co-occurring mental illness

• Identify workers engaged in research in psychobiology in Israel,
• Create mechanisms to ensure regular and steady communication between them
• Support cooperative and individual projects in selected areas of the subject

NIH originated in 1887 as the Laboratory of Hygiene at the Marine Hospital in Staten Island, New York.

• Strengthen, develop, and increase research into diseases, disorders, and conditions that affect women, determine gaps in knowledge about such conditions and diseases, and establish a research agenda for NIH for future directions in women's health research
• Ensure that women are appropriately represented in biomedical and biobehavioral research studies, especially clinical trials, that are supported by NIH
• Create direct initiatives to increase the number of women in biomedical careers and to facilitate their advancement and promotion
