About Founded in 1907 and based in Lausanne, Switzerland, ICAA is the premier international non-governmental organization concerned with reducing and preventing the harmful effects of the use of alcohol and other drugs. It is a membership organisation with menbers in some 80 countries and all five continents.

As an umbrella organization for all those concerned with alcohol, drug and tobacco problems, it provides a neutral, objective platform for both professional and lay people. At its annual Institutes and triennial Congresses the latest scientific and research findings, project evaluations, new strategies, programmes and ideas are presented and subjected to critical examination.

It has played a leading role in the development of responses to alcohol and other drug problems. Besides its world conferences, its training programmes, publications, assistance with study tours and documentation centre/library provide members with the opportunity to further knowledge and expertise and to network with people in different parts of the world who have similar interests and projects.

International Council on Medical and Care Compunetics [ICMCC]

About The International Council on Medical and Care Compunetics [ICMCC], founded in 2004, focuses on the interaction between consumers and caregivers; between caregivers; between consumers or caregivers and their tools; between the various tools — in short, networking.

Objectives:

  • Stimulate awareness of the various services from professional providers and business to consumers (B2C), being distinct from the previous concept of Telemedicine, which dealt with the provision of information between the providers (B2B)
  • Stimulate awareness of a wide range of compunetic scenarios, from prevention, monitoring, short or long-term recovery treatment, to provisions for elderly, handicapped and those suffering from chronic illness or disease
  • Stimulate awareness of the empowerment to caregivers due to the added and more efficient infrastructural functionalities based on compunetics, as well the improved equipment for all kinds of treatments
  • Stimulate interaction (networking) between research and industry to help both parties to find partners in their efforts to bring medical and care compunetics to an even more advanced stage. ICMCC will not only focus on SMEs but also involve parties from the medical, care as well as pharmaceutical industries and research agencies and funders
