Congreso Internacional de Psicología Social de la Liberación
(International Congess of the Social Psychology of Liberation)

About Se iniciaron en 1998 como una ampliación de los actos en memoria del Dr Ignacio Martín-Baró y de su obra que se realizan cada año en el mes de Noviembre desde 1989, cuando fue asesinado por el ejército salvadoreño.

Los Congresos de Psicología Social de la Liberación se plantean como un espacio de reflexión sobre su propuesta de una Psicología de la Liberación para América Latina, sus desarrollos posteriores, las prácticas afines y la vinculación de la psicología con los movimientos sociales de los pueblos.

Se trata de responder a las preguntas que planteó Martín-Baró:

  1. La pregunta epistemológica que cuestiona los criterios de verdad del conocimiento psicológico con respecto a la realidad vivida en Latinoamérica
  2. La pregunta conceptual que plantea la especificidad histórica de la persona latinoamericana cuya comprensión se ve limitada por la psicología dominante
  3. La pregunta práctica que nos lleva a examinar el quehacer de la psicología frente a los problemas de los países latinoamericanos

Se parte del reconocimiento de que los discursos de la liberación en las ciencias sociales de América Latina, tales como la teoría de la dependencia y los movimientos de liberación, la filosofía de la liberación, la sociología militante y la investigación-acción participativa, la pedagogía del oprimido, la teología de la liberación y la literatura latinoamericana de los años 60, contribuyeron al cuestionamiento crítico de la psicología. Lo cual dió lugar a una práctica original, la psicología social comunitaria, claramente vinculada a las propuestas de Psicología de la Liberación planteadas por Ignacio Martín-Baró y Maritza Montero. Esta psicología se plantea la desideologización y deconstrucción crítica del conocimiento psicológico dominante para liberar a la psicología, siendo este el requisito de una reconstrucción alternativa de la misma hecha desde la verdad existencial de los pueblos latinoamericanos, como parte del proceso de construcción de una Psicología Social de la Liberación.

About The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services [DMHAS] promotes and administers comprehensive, recovery-oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment throughout Connecticut.

While the Department's prevention services serve all Connecticut citizens, its mandate is to serve adults (over 18 years of age) with psychiatric or substance use disorders, or both, who lack the financial means to obtain such services on their own. DMHAS also provides collaborative programs for individuals with special needs, such as persons with HIV/AIDS infection, people in the criminal justice system, those with problem gambling disorders, substance abusing pregnant women, persons with traumatic brain injury or hearing impairment, those with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, and special populations transitioning out of the Department of Children and Families.

About Connecting for Health is a "public-private" collaborative created to address the challenges of mobilizing information to improve healthcare quality, conduct timely research, empower patients to become full participants in their care, and bolster the public health infrastructure.

Objectives:
