CESAR provides four primary information services:

1. The weekly CESAR FAX provides a one-page overview of a timely substance abuse topic
2. The biweekly CSAT by Fax, a joint activity of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment [CSAT] and CESAR, provides a one-page summary of evaluations of CSAT-funded drug treatment programs
3. CESAR BOARD, an electronic bulletin board, is one of the largest on-line sources of substance abuse-related information
4. The CESAR Library serves as a clearinghouse of information on substance abuse and related topics

In addition, CESAR's research reports present the results of its research activities.

CTL distributes information and serves as a resource on legal issues related to telemedicine. Members will be connected via e-mail and have the opportunity to engage in dialogue regarding the issues they face in their practice. Through e-mail and a newsletter, members also receive information about developments in state and federal law affecting telemedicine. Members also have the opportunity to participate in task forces formed to report on the legal and regulatory obstacles confronting telemedicine. Task forces on Licensure and on Reimbursement have already been formed. Those task forces held meetings with participation from interested organizations and governmental agencies and are in the process of drafting reports summarizing the current state of the law in those areas and analyzing the various alternatives for addressing those issues.

• Conduct programmatic research that will identify factors modulating cortico-limbic glutamatergic circuitry that contribute to ethanol reward, vulnerability to self-administration, and dependence
• Build from basic neuroscience insights to hypotheses regarding the etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of alcoholism
• Facilitate transdisciplinary research within projects and between projects
• Establish a mechanism to rapidly review and fund pilot promising pilot projects
• Provide career development activities for graduate and medical students, postdoctoral trainees, and junior faculty that will promote their development and retention within the field of alcoholism research
• Promote ethical and humane clinical neuroscience studies of alcoholism

CMS is a federal agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services [DHHS]. CMS runs the Medicare and Medicaid programs - two national health care programs that benefit about 75 million Americans. And with the Health Resources and Services Administration, CMS runs the >State Children's Health Insurance Program [SCHIP], a program that is expected to cover many of the approximately 10 million uninsured children in the United States.

CMS also regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the United States. Approximately 158,000 laboratory entities fall within CMS's regulatory responsibility. And CMS, with the Departments of Labor and Treasury, helps millions of Americans and small companies get and keep health insurance coverage, and helps eliminate discrimination based on health status for people buying health insurance.
