Promote co-operation and communication between the disciplines of psychiatry, psychology and law and related fields
• Promote research into issues and problems in forensic psychiatry, forensic psychology and areas of law and other disciplines in which psychiatry and psychology have a relevance
• Promote informed public and professional discussion about contemporary issues in forensic psychiatry, forensic psychology and areas of law and other disciplines in which psychiatry and psychology have a relevance
• Disseminate information regarding research and development in forensic psychiatry, forensic psychology and areas of law and other disciplines in which psychiatry and psychology have a relevance

The official publication of the ANZAPPL is the semiannual Psychiatry, Psychology, and Law.

Objectives:

• Promote public confidence and professional recognition of mental health nursing
• Set standards of practice and encourage professional accountability, autonomy and partnership
• Participate in national benchmarking for mental health nursing Provide a forum for collegial support, networking and collaboration
• Provide and support quality education and ongoing professional development
• Develop and facilitate research into mental health nursing practice and health care
• Represent the profession and provide advice to consumer and carer agencies, the government and non-government sector, community groups and the general public
• Participate in policy development concerning the profession, health care delivery, promotion of mental health and prevention of mental illness and disability

The official journal of ANZCMHN is The International Journal of Mental Health Nursing .

The purpose of ANZPA is to promote spontaneity in the Members of the Association and through them the spontaneity, creativity and co-creation of progressive relationships that strengthen the health and well-being of society in Australia and New Zealand and in our relationships with those in other countries.

The official publication of ANZPA is ANZPA Journal.

• Consider and discuss issues arising out of the implementation of Telehealth and Telehealth services across Australia with a view to developing policies or positions to submit to the Australian Health Minister's Advisory Council [AHMAC] Telehealth working party
• Report on the implementation and evaluation of Telehealth projects in each State and Territory
• Disseminate information on the development, implementation and evaluation of Telehealth and Telehealth projects nationally
• Examine the issues arising from the development and implementation of international Telehealth and Telehealth services
• Consider the need to develop a national Telehealth or Telehealth strategy to be implemented by the Commonwealth with the agreement of all States and Territories
• Communicate with all interest groups involved in Telehealth so as to ensure a representative consideration of views and opinions in the development and implementation of any policies or national strategy

The Centre was known as the Social Psychiatry Research Unit when it was first established in 1975.

Projects have included:

• An understanding of aetiological processes, particularly the contribution of environmental exposures, personal vulnerability or resilience, and the interaction of these
• Application of statistical methods in such investigations
• Development of instruments and methods for clinical and epidemiological studies

Core activities:

• Identify matters that impact on or are relevant to statutory nursing and midwifery regulation
• Establish, review and promote a national standards framework for nursing and midwifery practice in Australia
• Undertake assessments of internationally qualified nurses and midwives consistent with the registration and/or enrolment requirements of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Regulatory Authorities
• Initiate and participate in relevant projects on regulation that aid the future growth and development of the nursing and midwifery professions
• Ensure nursing and midwifery standards reflect the contemporary needs of the Australian community
• Develop and be guided by a strategic view of statutory nursing and midwifery regulation in the national and international contexts
• Foster cooperation, consult with and provide advice to government bodies, professional and other organisations and International Nursing and Midwifery Regulatory Authorities
