Fall Conference and Small Consultation Group
"Coming Alive in Grief Group: The Transformative Power of Mourning With The Tribe"

Event sponsor: Austin Group Psychotherapy Society

October 1, 2011
Austin, TX

The loss of a significant attachment figure can lead to a sense of estrangement from self and community. It can unleash a range of primitive affects, shifts in self-identity, and the loss of meaning and joyful experience. Alternately, a bereavement group connects the mourner with others, opens pathways to express longings, and often addresses “unfinished business”. This conference will highlight the sea change in our understanding of the mourning process, informed by relational theory and practice, and groundbreaking bereavement research.

Presenter: Mary Sussillo, LCSW, BCD, CGP, Director, Center for Bereavement, New York, New York; Adjunct Faculty and Supervisor, National Institute for the Psychotherapies Training Institute; Board Member, American Group Psychotherapy Association; Board Member, Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society.

There can be up to 6 continuing education credit hour equivalents available for unspecified professionals.

(As a courtesy: when you enquire about the above meeting, we would appreciate your mention of these Web pages.)
