About The Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness [ASSC] promotes rigorous analytic research on consciousness. The official purpose of the organization is to encourage research within cognitive science, neuroscience, philosophy, and other relevant disciplines in the sciences and humanities, directed toward understanding the nature, function, and underlying mechanisms of consciousness. Any solid research on consciousness falls within our area of interest.

We need to build a community, which can be quite small, of serious and knowledgeable scholars who take the subject of human experience to be as valid as the study of memory, attention, neuroimaging, formal logic, etc. Without that kind of sustained and productive interaction the field will continue to have a spasmodic and dillettantish quality.

In addition to conferences, the Association runs electronic seminars through its website.

About The Association for Specialists in Group Work [ASGW], formed in 1973, promotes quality in group work training, practice, and research both nationally and internationally. A division of the American Counseling Association [ACA], ASGW numbers among its members over 1,200 group workers and group work educators.

Objectives:

  • Establish standards for professional and ethical practice; to support research and the dissemination of knowledge
  • Provide professional leadership in the field of group work
  • Extend counseling through the use of group process
  • Provide a forum for examining innovative and developing concepts in group work

About The Association for Survey Computing [ASC], originally known as the Study Group on Computers in Survey Analysis (SGCSA), was formed in 1971 to improve knowledge of good practice in survey computing and to disseminate information on techniques and survey software.

The ASC is a non-profit organisation, affiliated to the British Computer Society and the International Association for Statistical Computing. It has a wide-ranging membership at both individual and corporate levels, and has close working links with the Royal Statistical Society and the Market Research Society. Although based in the United Kingdom, it has a growing international membership.

Today its aims are:

  • To act as a forum for the various disciplines within survey research and statistical computing
  • To inform members of the latest software packages and techniques
  • To organise regular conferences and workshops on key topics within the industry
